The nuclear powered Astute class are the newest submarines in the Royal Navy fleet, meant to replace the Swiftsure class and older Trafalgar class boats. Fitted with a suite of advanced passive and active sensors, as well as a modern Command and Control System, the Astute class is an example of the next-generation of nuclear attack submarines.
