   - History -
USS New Jersey (BB62) was launched almost exactly one year to the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Imperial Japaneese Navy, 7 December 1941. Benefitting from a redesign to the bridge, the New Jersey was fitted with the new 'fighting bridge' before the Iowa and was therefore ready to launch much sooner. 1942 was a lonely year for the 'Big Stick', as the New Jersey was nicknamed. She was our only modern battleship capable of standing between America and her enemies on the high seas.
