A realistic model of the sun similar to SOHO images. A particle system defines the look of the flares and turbulent outer surface. The surface of the sun is an animated procedural texture, and on top of that is an atmosphere layer and sphere fog that adds a halo around the edges. The scene is set up to be ready to render right out of the box, but is also fully customizable.
