Mental Ray material was used for the water surface. Mental Ray is now a part of 3dsmax without additional plugin. So, you don't have to worry. However, you can use your own water material if you want.

I have not used any light in the scene.

The water surface is plane primitive object. Terrain and trees are editable meshes. The terrain model has been optimized and has only 13453 vertices and 26892 faces. Here are the mesh details:
