First designed as exporting modification of T-90 for India (were delivered more than 500 tanks and another 1000 stay in order) T-90S became the main battle tank for Russian Army very soon. It has improved armored turret and new engine at 1000 hp, that make it distinctive from previous T-90 MBT. Aside Russia and India, the tank used (or will use) in other countries, like Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Iran. The model represent a tank equipped with self-defence systems the 'Kontakt-5' explosive reactive armour and the 'Shtora-1' electro-optical countermeasures system.
