The Ruger Super Blackhawk is a single-action, six shot revolver developed by Ruger in 1956. This model is chambered in .45 Long Colt.
The Blackhawk is deliberately modelled after Colt’s famous Single Action Army revolver, which had been out of production since before World War II. The popularity of Westerns in the movies and television prompted Ruger to produce a lookalike firearm with modernised operation and safety mechanisms. The Blackhawk was immediately successful and has been produced continuously ever since.
