The following description is just a short version.


HIRES MODEL OF SAND DESERT: 500x500m

> this is a vray scene!
> the area is ~500x500m
> the stack is still available to disable 1 turbosmooth iteration
> without rocks and turbosmooth: polys 124.800; vertices 62.901
> some preview images show the desert with fog - this fog is vray environment fog which is still available if you open the scene. simply enable it in the environment dialog.
> the maps are jpg for diffuse; the bump is a normalmap.
> check out my catalogue for other products and city models
> the edges are flat, so you can tile the terrain...from a higher camera you will be able to see these borders.

HIRES MODEL OF A STONE DESERT

> this is a vray scene!
> the area is modelled as 100x100m but can be used in a bigger scale
> the stones define the actual scale - scale them down and the scene will appear bigger!!! you can easily create the look of a 1x1 mile area
> there are 2 max versions included: one uses multiscatter for the stones; the other one has the stones collapsed so you dont need the plugin multiscatter!
> the polycount for collapsed stones: 5,8mio polies
> check out my other desert model - with sand dunes
> the mesh was highly tesselated and then optimized for its jagged edges.
> all previews are renderoutputs - open the scene and it will render like in the preview (it uses gamma 2.2)
> the geomery uses a 8k diffuse map and normal map for bump and an additional prodecural noise for bump.

HIRES MODEL OF AN ICEBERG

- the scene is prepared for vray
- the scene uses Linear Workflow
- all maps are in the 3dsmax zipfile
- all previews are render outputs (only the main image was altered in photoshop)
- the scene includes the lightsetup
- polycount in viewport: polies: 804.000 / vertices: 403.000
- polycount for render: 38.6 mio
- polycount for the big iceberg: 7.8mio (7 TS iterations for rendering), 7680 (2 TS iterations in viewport)
- the TS iteration define the Level of Detail. Decrease the value to safe polies; the rock will be smoother then.
- the big iceberg is 174x128x163m in demension
- the scene uses vray materials (fastSSS2)

- the scene is prepared for vray
- the scene uses Multiscatter as Plugin. you need to have this plugin installed to render the palmtrees!
- the scene uses Linear Workflow
- all previews are renderoutputs
- the main preview images shows the scene with some post effects
- polies: 235.000 vertices: 168.000
- the mountain geometry uses Turbosmooth and several deformation modifiers
- the stack is still available
- the palmtrees are midres resolution and scattered using the plugin Multiscatter
- the palmtrees on the mountain use a different multiscatter distributor which is not renderable - just for distribution
- the whole landscape model is 5x5km
- the reef is a seperate object which uses vray displacement and a waterlevel to elevate the reef over the ground....
