This model was created in Maya 2008. The model is also provided in FBX and OBJ file formats for compatibility with other software. However, because those formats do not support all of the features of the original Maya file you may wish to have the model exported again with your specific needs in mind (eg. if you require the unsmoothed cage for making edits to.) Fortunately Turbosquid provides free file format conversion services; the link is on the side of this screen.
The model is comprised of multiple objects positioned correctly to relative to each other. The objects are currently disconnected, allowing you to easily group the objects, combine them into a single mesh, or link them together into a heirarchy, whichever is most convenient for your needs.
All of the objects were modeled as polygonal objects with smoothing applied (ie. subdivision surfaces.) To revert to unsmoothed cages (eg. for moving vertices around to edit the shape) go to the Attribute Editor and then under the 'polySmoothFace' tab reduce Division Levels to 0. For smoother closeups do the opposite, simply increase the Division Levels.
It is easy to set colors, transparency, and reflectivity to whatever you would like by adjusting the corresponding property of the materials in the scene.
