This scale model two-cylinder (9/16' bore x 7/8' stroke) 'Navy Style Launch Engine' is intended for the model ship builder. Featuring an 'open column' design, it is typical of those used in the late 19th to early 20th Century in small boats and United States Navy cutters and launches in the 35 foot to 50 foot range. As a model it would be suitable for ships in the 24' to 36' length range. They were very robust, dependable and easy to maintain, and usually powered from a traditional vertical fire-tube boiler, burning wood or coal.

The CAD model is designed for the hobbyist, and is offered in a range of file formats including SolidWorks™ 2011, Parasolid .x_t and the popular .obj.
I have not built this model in real life, and no castings or sundries are available. It is an ideal schools project and perfect for training in CNC machining and casting technology. The SolidWorks™ model is fully mated for animation. I cannot warrant the usability of the CAD model for actual model construction.

This high resolution 1,261,750 poly CAD model allows for extreme close-ups and rendering. All parts were color-mapped in SolidWorks™, and migrate to the .obj format.

The SolidWorks™ model was converted to .obj (Combined based on Structure) using SimLab Composer.   The Parasolid was generated from within native SolidWorks™, .   Renderings were created in KeyShot2 from Luxion.
