This is an unrigged anime-like Japanese robot model. It was designed to look like mech robots from popular anime series, without actually violating any copyrights (a generic mech robot, so to speak).

The original version is the .MA version. It uses mental ray and mr sun/sky as the rendering environment. The DAE and FBX are exports, and the only difference is that they don't support MR nodes (physical sun/sky and surface shader for the eye material).
