The Sd Kfz. 232 6 Rad was essentially an armored car placed on a beefed-up truck chassis. Its performance dropped when used off road because of its tendency to belly drag in extreme terrain. It was used mainly in the invasion of Poland and France at which time it showed its inadequacies. The 6 Rad configuration could not be improved so the Germans designed an 8 wheeled version and called it the Sd kfz. 231 8 Rad. The vehicle
was also used in Russia and North Africa. The extreme climatic conditions also effected the vehicles performance. They were later used only in training and internal security. The Sd Kfz. 232 6 Rad was the same as the Sd Kfz. 231 with the addition of the radio antenna and the omitance of the antiaircraft mount for the MG 34.28 Sd Kfz. 263s with long range radio configuration were produced.
