They are represented as individual objects (see previews with number of polygons information) to combine and manipulate in different ways, like flying, rotating, moving and so on. Every formula is a spline with added Extrude modifier. This allow you variate symbols depth, also as animate them in a free way. This ability presented in original Max format only. All other formats don't contain splines, but meshes only, as separated objects. No material applied. Only indexed software color was used to render the pictures. So, softwares other than 3D Studio Max may open the model in different color(s).
