The GX-42 fighter bomber was manufactured on the market not long before the GX-14 gunfighter. It's long production history was influenced and requested to be placed under immediate research as so many fighter pilot of the Soullion federation have been lost... too many for that matter due to ineffective strategic military operations against the Cyraknid Empire. Regarding the inevitable statistics, the Militia Defence Commission needed a new type of craft that is capable of rendering large enemy destroyers and battlecruisers into a pile of debris, without having to send in direct assault forces. The MDC research got as far as it could go, but not as far as it was expected. Nonetheless, there was no time for rejection or redesignation of the research project. And so because the GX-42, known as the Destructor was manufactured. Evidently the destructor is considerably slow yet it is like a bomber on steroids with maximum payload.
Further enhancement over the years yield progress in increased throttle power, arsenal capacity and armour and promoted it's model callsign to a GX-45.
There are two type of Destructors, which depends on the weapons mounted. The general type is equipped with positronic bombs, quantum bombs and twin buster canon. The exceptional one is equipped with a disruption bomb, nova lasers and an ultra velocity dual canon that fires armor piercing depleted tipped-uranium rounds. The latter type of craft is more to the assault side, whereas the former type is not but more to direct bomb strikes. Because both are moderately armoured and well heavily equipped, its speed is not surprisingly good. Since the general type of craft cannot endure close combat battles, it is not well known to be the best use for pilots of faint heart. Only in imperative occasions involving heavy air or battleship strikes should this craft be effectively used and as one would say, 'It's not the number of ships you deploy upon your enemy, but the amount of damage you inflict and much of it.'
