This is a model of Garden Shears.
This scene was built in Maya 2010 and rendered using
mental Ray. Lighting was achieved using an image(image
provided is NOT an HDRI quality image), applied to
Mental Ray's Image based lighting node then rendered with
Mental Ray Final Gather.
Poly and Vert counts are totals for all geometry in
the scene at lowest subdivision levels.
The scene contains a control curve under which, all geometry
is parented. The curve contains a custom attribute called
SMOOTH, which has settings from 0 to 2. Should there be the
need to smooth the model, use this setting to add subdivisions
Renders were done with this attribute set to Smooth 1.
The CTRL curve also has two other custom attributes,
Open Right Blade 0 to 30 and
Open Left Blade -30 to 0.
These attributes control the rotation of the blades.
The blades are grouped into left and right, including
handle geometry for each. These two groups have all
attributes locked except for the proper rotation axis
which is then limited to 30 degree rotations as indicated
by the attributes on the CTRL curve. Set animation on
these two attributes to animate the blades.
The model was also exported in FBX, OBJ formats and imported
into 3dsMax9. The Max file is not set up for rendering.
