Product Rating
The FN FAL (Fusil Automatique Léger- Light Automatic Rifle) is one of the most widespread rifles of the 20th century. Capable of fully automatic operation and firing 7.62x51 NATO ammunition, the FAL is a classic post-WWII battle rifle. The FAL was developed during the cold war and was adopted by many NATO countries. Despite using a full-power rifle cartridge, the recoil of the FAL is relatively light due mostly to the weight of the weapon. However, in fully automatic fire the rifle quickly climbs off target, necessitating the use of short bursts.

The UK adopted the FAL as the L1A1 SLR (Self Loading Rifle), and included a number of improvements and modifications. The most important of these is the SUIT (Sight Unit, Infantry, Trilux) 4x magnification sight. The SUIT features a prismatic offset reduces the length of the scope and improves clearance around the action of the rifle. Although heavy, the SUIT is noted for its durability.

The FAL has a magazine capacity of 20 rounds, and weighs 4.45kg empty. It has a rate of fire of 650-700 rounds per minute.
