This type of aircraft was used to form the Agressor Squadrons based in Europe and the US during the Cold War, and for training at Luke AFB, where it's similarity in size and performance to the Russian Mig-21 makes it ideal for combat simulation.

The F-5E has a top speed of Mach 1.64 at heights of up to 36,000ft and a maximum range of 1,543 miles with fuel drop tanks (as modelled) It carries two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles on the wingtips and up to 7,000 lbs of mixed stores on the remaining pylons.
