Boldly colored, Eupatorus gracilicornis is one of the most elegant of rhinoceros beetles. There are four large horns on the pronotum and one extra-long cephalic horn. E. gracillicornis is used by boys in Thailand as a pet fighting beetle. Larvae try to bite when handled and resemble Chalcosoma larvae. Many people in Europe and Asia breed these beetles but it is not enough to suit the demand for specimens. In Vietnam, these beetles have been seriously over collected and should be considered endangered within that country.
