This model is intended for those who need nothing less then the highest photorealism for cinema quality renders.
The Cretaceous is a geologic period and system from circa 145.5 ± 4 to 65.5 ± 0.3 million years (Ma) ago. In the geologic timescale, the Cretaceous follows on the Jurassic Period and is followed by the Paleogene Period of the Cenozoic Era. It is the youngest period of the Mesozoic Era, and at 80 million years long, the longest period of the Phanerozoic Eon. The end of the Cretaceous defines the boundary between the Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras. In many languages this period is known as 'chalk period'.
This is a scientifically accurate rendering of the earth millions of years ago in the Late Cretaceous period . Notice that the continents are of a differnt shape then they appear today. The shape of the continents is what scientist believe they looked like during this time frame.
It is the best choice available for cinema quality renders of the Cretaceous Period and other visualizations depicting continental shift.
The maps (8000x4000) are so detailed, you can see natural rivers and lakes throughout the continents. These rivers and lakes are procedurally placed using a new method I developed so they are very natural looking and they span throughout the entire high resolution image. The maps look as if they were from a satellite looking down on the earth during that time period.
The Cretaceous Maps presented in this model are a one of a kind. You will never see such a high detailed texture maps anywhere else.
