For this to look correctly you will need Marvin Landis's normal map plugin which is a free download. The link is included in the readme with the download. You can easily find it by searching for 'normal map plugin lightwave' in a popular search engine. I would post the link here but that is forbidden.

This object and example scene has only been tested with lightwave 8.0, earlier versions will not work. Newer versions may work but I cannot say for certain.

This is a cdrom object built to scale and with a somewhat realistic looking interference reflection pattern. This is achieved with the use of a couple normal maps, the normal map shader created by Marvin Landis, and a specifically designed spherical map. You will need the normal map shader plugin for this to look right.

Be sure to install the plugin in lightwave layout first, then close lightwave layout, then reopen it before loading the cdrom object or the example scene.

Awesome piece of work. Comes in very handy - and easy to implement in working files.
