This brain cell was created with a complex material system to give it the effects it displays. Its procedural displacement gives it the organic look. The electric signal traveling in the cell is animated but could easily be removed if desired. A fly-through movie is available for download to show the full effects this model can achieve.

Notice the reflective effects in the nucleus as the movie progresses. It gives the model an erie optical illusion of being almost alive. Also notice the subtle reflections and chameleon effect this model achieves depending on the viewing angle.
