This is a High Definition 3D model of the Apollo Command Service Module that made nine trips to the moon and two in earth orbit.
Modeled with precision using detailed 1:48 scale blueprints and extensive photographic research spanning nearly a year.
Separate model parts enable realistic animation of the High Gain S-Band Antenna (for long range communications), EVA and docking floodlights and separation of the Service Module prior to earth reentry. The main SPS engine can also be gimballed.
112 texture maps (colour and bump) depict all rivets, panel lines and the highly reflective mylar tape used on the CM in exacting detail. High resolution decal maps (scaled at 48 pixels per real size inch) are included and individually configured for each separate mission.
The first manned flight of the CSM (Apollo 7) carried neither the High Gain Antenna, docking probe or EVA handles. Apollo 8 carried the HG Antenna, but no probe or EVA hardware. Subsequent spacecraft carried all this hardware. The last 3 Service Modules also had additional EVA handles to allow recovery of scientific data from the SIM bay.
