To render the Maya file in Mental Ray you will need to press the '3' button on the keyboard for the Smooth Mesh Preview.
The Maya file includes a lighting setup that uses Mental Ray Physical Sky and Sun. In order to disable it , one should delete it by cliccing the delete button in the Mental Ray render setting tab called ' Indirect Lighting'. In order to get the correct illumination in the Maya files inside the Mental Ray Common settings the Enable Color Management' is turn on. If it needs to render with a different camera , while keeping the Mental Ray Physical Sky and Sun , the 'mia_exposure_simple1' node, linked to the perspective camera in the scenes , should be linked to the new camera as well.
The preview images in the above presentations are all rendered with no post work. The Images with the Character in an outdoor environment were rendered inside Maya using an IBL setup, which is not included in the download.

The Model is rigged. The main body rig has been made using the Advanced Skeleton Auto rig System with very few adjustment (added extra controls for the hair). Even if the rig is a very basic cartoon style rig , I would recommend to watch the YouTube video tutorial on the Advanced Skeleton YouTube Channel in order to see how the rig works.
The facial rig has been done using joints deformation , which are controlled using simple attributes in the Channel Box.
The facial animation of the Character shown in the preview is for presentation purpose only. The facial animation file is not included in the download.
