Although mechanically reliable,
‘Stuart’ series of tanks had serious flaws that were
impossible to fix. The small 37 mm gun and
the thin armor were the most obvious. The m24
was the answer to this problem with its new light
weight 75 mm gun. Reports from crews that
received the new tank were generally positive.
Still used mostly in the reconnaissance role, it’s
75 mm gun gave it better survivability odds when
enemy armor was encountered. 4731 m24s were
made from 1944 to Aug 1945.
