You can use Max 2010~20xx for rendering with Maxwell render and V-Ray.
You can also use FBX, OBJ, 3ds, STL, or vrayproxy formats for Polygonal tools and 3DM, IGS or SAT for Nurbs modeler like Rhino.
In case of FBX, there are two versions included. (normal & triangulated version)
Pivots of all objects are aligned at the world origin(0,0,0).
So if you need more subdivided geometry, you can easily re-export it from the original 3dm nurbs model.
And all objects have just one multi-sub Material, so you can easily convert them to single proxy file.
