In 1943 the Waffenamt, Armaments Office, received
a proposal by Steyr to mount a 7.5cm PaK40 onto
an RSO tractor. The Waffenamt was impressed and
ordered 50 conversions. The vehicle had a new
low profile drivers compartment added. Everything else
was basically the same as the Raupenschlepper OST.
The vehicle was given to Army Group South in Russia
for evaluation in 1944. Major drawbacks to the design
was it’s slow speed, light armor and loud engine. Only
60 vehicles were built between 1943 and 1944.
