NOTE (preview images) The 'test pose' preview images have been made with a quick rigged version of the Bear with enhanced contrast and using DOF (increased hair primitives number too), just to test the fur behaviour. The actual model is NOT rigged and it is provided in the standard position
NOTE (shave and haircut): The Fur is made with Shave and A Haircut 4.5 v42 for Maya 8.5 so YOU WOULD NEED THAT MAYA PLUGIN TO RENDER THE FUR OUT. The actual Shave and Haircut setup is made with 4 hair systems to make it easier to manage the rendering and/or hiding some fur parts. The total hair primitives number is of 290k (with a multistrand of 4) and has been rendered on a system based on 8GB Ram and Winx64 (about 5 minutes to render those scenes out 600x600) You can decrease the hair primitives to avoid memory issues or increase them for a better quality as long as you have enough memory.
The Shave and Haircut Fur setup is included in all the MAYA formats. The OBJ and FBX formats don't include the Shave and Haircut setup so you can only use the textures (see 'MAYA GRABS' preview images to get the idea of the textured model without fur) I have included a separate Maya (8.5 mb) file with the hair/fur guides (nurbs) so you can make tham dynamic and/or use with other fur plugins. ************************* NO POSTWORK ON THESE RENDERS (MENTAL RAY), ONLY ASSEMBLED AND RESIZED
