Although the production has stopped of the Dornier 228 Turboprop, most of the delivered 228's are still in operational service. Since 1982 230 models have been build by Dornier which is now part of Fairchild Aerospace. HAL from India has produced 60 228's under license for there navy and air force activities. Due to it's high STOL performance the 228 is mainly used for special tasks like patroling, coast guard or government duties. The aircraft is also used by airlines which operates the Do-228 from short air strips.
This accurately detailed modelled Dornier Do-228 3D aircarft model features many animated items in various modes along the animation line. (note that the animations only work properly with the .max and .3ds formats)
All flight controls have been cutted out and modelled accurately. The trailing edge flaps are animated and the ailerons rudder and elevator parts are ready to be animated.
The proppellor and spinner are seperated parts and can be easily animated
Model features highly detailed modelled landing gear system with actual support beams, shock obsorbers, wheels and brakes modelled from closeup photo's. The complete landing gear and landing gear doors are animated, like the real Dornier 228 gear.
Cockpit has pilot seats, main instrument panel, pedestal, overhead panel and sun visors(low detail)
also modelled are antenna's, exterior lights, probes and windshield wipers.
Animation as being seen in the preview images are only working properly in both .max and .3ds files. Animations are devided into 4 situations.
- Flight mode, frame 0: clean model, everything retracted.
- Landing mode, frame 0-80: gear and flaps down.
- Rollout mode, frame 80-81: gear suspension
- last frame 90-100: cockpit door opens.
Model comes with high resolution textures. And has been scaled to real world size.
