| The Heckler & Koch MP5/10 is a variant of the famous MP5 submachine gun, chambered for the powerful 10mm Auto cartridge rather than the standard 9mm. Apart from the different ammunition, the MP5/10 features a bolt hold open device and translucent polymer magazines to differentiate it from the standard MP5. The MP5 has a rather unusual operating mechanism, unique to H&K. The roller-delayed blowback mechanism delays the recoil produced by firing until after the bullet has left the barrel, improving accuracy. Firing from a closed bolt also increases the accuracy of the weapon, as the relatively massive bolt does not lurch forward upon firing. These features make the MP5 quite accurate for a submachine gun, allowing for rifle-like accuracy up to 100 metres. The MP5/10 has a retractable stock for easy handling, and a safe-semi-full trigger group. All MP5s have a claw mount for optics and other accessories. The weapon has a rate of fire of 800 rpm, and holds 30 rounds in the standard box magazine. It has an effective range of around 100 metres. |
