| German halftrack Opel Blitz ''Maultier'' (Mule) was produced between 1942-44, for eastern front. Lack of hard roads in USSR led to developing conversion vehicles of improving cross-country performance, like Opel ''Maultier''. It was born from ''horse'' 3-ton Opel Blitz truck and ''donkey'' obsolete PzKfw I light tank. The conversion reduced the carrying capacity to 2 tons. Some 4,000 vehicles were produced, also there were many other Opel Blitz halftracks, conversed in field conditions. In 1944, when war returned back from eastern borders to European countries with good roads, Maultiers weren't in demand anymore. Its life was ended with ending of Hitler's Blitzkrieg plan.
