Duisburg’s City Theatre has 1,117 seats. It is located in the city centre. The theatre was built in 1911-12 in neoclassical style and designed by the architect Martin Dülfer. Duisburg Theatre is one of the venues of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, a theatre association established in 1956 by the cities of Duisburg and Düsseldorf. The theatre does not have its own company of actors but works closely with the renowned Bochum Theatre and also with the well-known “Theater an der Ruhr” of Mülheim an der Ruhr.
