In spite of the extraordinary technical features of this jens - speed, angular fjeld and a lang back focal distance compared with the focal length -the distortion could be kept remarkably smalI, an outstanding feature because the correction of wide-angle lenses of excessively lang back focal distances is very difficult. The jens can also be used for architectural photography. The Distagon T* f/4-40 mm is especially suited for the photography of interiors, machines and models and for press photography.

The Distagon being a retro focus design makes this set of optics a great engineering milestone. The Distagon offers an optical performance so high, that its sharpness can be fully exploited only with a very good tripod.
